The Savoy got its name during the clearing of the land during construction, workers found a 1954 Plymouth Savoy buried in the woods. Instead of scrapping the car the founders adopted its name and left the car on the property.
The Savoy is a great museum to visit, on top of the permanent collection they have several rotating exhibits throughout the year. Ones recently were Cannonball Run cars, Jaguar, Ferrari and vehicles of Carrol Shelby.
When you visit check out the art seen throughout the museum, all which is car themed.
