One of the best shows in North Alabama doesn’t happen on a Saturday, but in the middle of the week in the summer months. First Wednesday at Providence has a long history in Huntsville, and is a casual event with everything from classic to high end exotics, think of Cars & Coffee at night. The main parking area is on the grass lawn while over flow is parked behind the stage in the parking lot. The show is usually from 5pm to 8pm and host various theme nights for each month. The last one I attended the feature was Racecars, the displays ranged from RallyX cars from the TVR SCCA chapter to several Drag cars.

The Village of Providence is a great location that offers plenty of restaurants from casual to upscale dining. Longstanding favorites include Mellow Mushroom, Phuket Thai, Charrito’s, and Taco Mama, while newer arrivals like Moe’s BBQ, The Casual Pint have quickly become neighborhood staples. Those wanting something more upscale can head to Grille on Main, opened in 2021 by Chef James Boyce, offering craft cocktails, local drafts, and southern-inspired American cuisine. The neighborhood’s newest offerings are Providence Bar, plus Nitro Tales, a modern spot serving cocktails on tap alongside a Japanese-inspired small-plates menu. All these option give the Village a dense, easily walkable mix of casual eats, coffee shops, and nightlife all within about a ten-minute stroll of the fountain at Providence Main. In previous nights we ate at Moe’s BBQ, Phuket Thai (the curry was very good!) and once at Grille on Maine, all very good at what they do. Our dining choice last time was Mellow Mushroom, before that we enjoyed cocktails and an appetizer at Nitro Tails.

As you can see this is one of the best locations in town for a cruise-in, it has something for everyone. Whether you choose to park your car and go to dinner or hang out and talk cars, you don’t want to miss this event.
